Situated near Pézenas, between the foothills of the Massif Central and the Mediterranean Sea, Domaine de Castelnau Garenne spans 160 hectares of vineyard, uniquely influenced by cooling समुदanean breezes that help preserve natural acidity and freshness in the grapes.

The estate is owned by Christophe Muret, who transitioned from melon farming to viticulture in 1997. The name “Garenne” pays tribute to the wild rabbits that once roamed his vineyards, an enduring symbol of his early days as a vigneron and his connection to the land.

Christophe has long embraced sustainable farming practices, focusing on soil health and ecological balance. His vineyards are rooted in a diverse mix of limestone, clay, and loam soils, providing excellent water retention and helping to mitigate hydric stress during warmer vintages.

In the cellar, South African-born winemaker François Prinsloo brings precision and expertise, ensuring the quality of the fruit is expressed in every bottle. Grapes are harvested mechanically at night to retain freshness, then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks to preserve purity and varietal character.

The range reflects both vibrancy and terroir: the ‘Garenne’ Sauvignon Blanc offers bright notes of lemon and nectarine; the Picpoul de Pinet reveals an aromatic floral profile with a core of lively stone fruit; the Rosé, a blend of 80% Cinsault and 20% Syrah, shows crisp acidity with delicate wild strawberry and citrus nuances. The Syrah is destemmed, gently crushed, and macerated for three weeks in stainless steel, resulting in a wine of vivid black fruit, subtle liquorice and pepper spice, supported by fresh acidity and supple tannins.
