Paul Edworthy aka The Wine Dealer at Calancombe Vineyard, Modbury, Devon

Having been passionate about wine for more than fourteen years, Paul decided to turn his enthusiasm into something bigger. In 2024, he founded The Wine Dealer, a venture that brought together his love for fine wine, his desire to share knowledge, and his belief that wine should be accessible to everyone. That same year also marked another exciting milestone, the launch of his debut book The Wine Code.

Over the years, Paul has enjoyed countless conversations with friends, fellow wine enthusiasts, and members of The Wine Dealer community. One recurring theme often stood out: many people admitted they only knew wine in the most basic terms, “red” or “white”, without much understanding of the vast world of grape varieties, regions, and winemaking traditions that exist.

It was these conversations that sparked the idea for The Wine Code. Paul wanted to create a friendly, approachable guide for beginners, something that did not intimidate but inspired. The book not only explores the history of wine, but also explains how to taste it, appreciate it, and respect the culture and craftsmanship behind every bottle. His aim is to remove the mystery and replace it with curiosity, confidence, and enjoyment.
